University of Arakan Statement on the Arrival of Rohingya Scholars in the Philippines
The University of Arakan warmly welcomes the arrival of the latest batch of Rohingya scholars to the Philippines through the Complementary Pathways programme. This initiative is a vital and inspiring example of how education can open doors and transform the lives of Rohingya youth, who have long faced barriers to accessing quality education.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the Government of the Philippines, UNHCR, and all partner academic institutions, civil society organisations, and supporters who have made this opportunity possible. Your commitment to opening pathways for Rohingya students highlights the power of international cooperation in addressing one of the most pressing challenges faced by one of the world’s most persecuted communities.
At the University of Arakan, we believe education is the cornerstone of empowerment and hope. We welcome future opportunities to refer our graduates and students to similar programmes and scholarships, ensuring they continue to grow, contribute, and lead.
As stated by Mohammed Amin, CEO of Rohingya Centre UK (RCUK), in a Facebook post:
“I urge other states to do the same for persecuted communities who want to be assets, not burdens.”
Together, we encourage and inspire Rohingya youth to pursue their academic and personal dreams, building stronger futures for themselves, their communities, and the wider Arakanese nation.
